Here at Alco, we like to give recognition and praise to our number one asset, our staff. From time to time we highlight a staff member at random and find out a little more about what they do here, how long they’ve been with the company and what they think about working at Alco Valves Group. This month we’ll be focusing our attention on Carol Oldfield. As anyone who knows her, you don’t call her Carol, so in this article we’ll be using her preferred name, Cazzie.
Cazzie joined Alco in June 2004 as Expeditor / Purchasing Department. After this Cazzie joined the QA / Documentation Department as a Document Controller, and since early 2017 Cazzie has been on loan to the Sales Department providing valuable support to the team. When asked about her role Cazzie said “My role is new to me, so I am still on a learning curve, and enjoying doing something different from what I was doing in my 10 years in Documentation”.
In her time at Alco, Cazzie has proved to be a valuable asset to the company, exhibiting dedication and hard work throughout her career. There are also many other words that come to mind when thinking of Cazzie and one such word is dependable. If people ever need help or support in their work, Cazzie is always happy to help.
Katherine Wood – Head Office Lead Receptionist
“Cazzie is a fabulous member of the Alco Team! When it comes to helping out on reception she always offers to help where she can. She always puts herself forward to help people whenever possible. She is the true definition of a team player. We could all learn a lot from her!”
Before Alco, Cazzie has had various jobs. “I've been in catering, then late 1980's studied NVQ Business & Admin level II and then moved to another company in the valve industry working in their Quality Department. I worked as a receptionist and within the sales department at a chemical company and I also worked for a shipping company arranging containers etc for export. I worked briefly for a local (Middlesbrough) mini market chain in the buying department.”
We asked Cazzie about her 13 years in Alco. “I’ve worked with some really nice people in my time at Alco. I enjoyed many of the Alco gatherings we have including Christmas parties, Alco Anniversary parties and the Summer bashes etc. One of my fondest memories is of Alco founder Alan Lomax. He was a wonderful Gentleman. Now we have a nice new futuristic and shiny building and it’s a nice place to work.
We also asked Cazzie about her life outside of Alco and what she likes to get up to in her spare time. “I used to love horse riding but can't do it these days as I’m too old and stiff. I absolutely adore animals and have three beautiful dogs at home. I take my oldest dog for a gentle walk but the two younger ones need more exercise than I can give them, hence my husband is given his orders to help out. I enjoy cooking, reading, and we have just started caravanning. Its good fun and we take the dogs with us too.
We would like to take this time to thank Cazzie for all of her hard work over the years.
